Hello Everyone,

I would really like to know if anyone has managed to convert their old timber outhouse on the side of their house, into a functionable room, such as a utility room?

If so, was it a pretty straightforward process and if you don’t mind me asking, how much should I expect to pay to have mine converted?

Was the old structure removed, does it need new footings and who did you get to undertake the work?

All responses would be greatly appreciated.

Hi all, thought I would ask the question again as we purchased our BISF house a month ago and we are now looking into what can be done – the house is going to be rewired beginning of December and then we look to move the waste pipe to outside to free up space in the kitchen and bathroom. Bathroom and kitchen will then be updated and we would also like a conservatory at some point.

I know people have changed their outhouses into utility rooms so I was just wondering if anyone could up load some photos please.

thanks in advance !!

Hi Marissa1981,

I’ve undergone a restoration of the outhouse and there is a discussion topic on this topic from a few years back here

I can take a few images and show them to you over the weekend, as I’m not currently at the address.

What type of outhouse do you currently have, is it timer or block construction? Also, do you have some space or a passageway adjacent to the building?
