Trusteel or BISF?
We’re in the process of buying a non-standard construction bunglow. The valuer at Nationwide thinks it’s a Trusteel build, but the surveyor has said it’s BISF (though not sure if he’s lumping all steel framed buildings together!).
I’ve attached a few pics of the front and back, and one from in the roof space. Any thoughts?
Hi Kay, warmest of welcomes and congratulations on your prospective purchase.
Firstly though, BISF or more accurately, The British Iron & Steel Federation never produced or constructed bungalows so I scratch my head as to why the surveyor, who should have vastly more experience than the valuer, would suggest this.
The problem with identifying bungalows is the pure number of different variants that were built, even within each individually named construction system.
I’ll do some quick research on your property and see if I can confirm the construction type for you.
Fortunately, due to the fact that not only did you post an excellent set of images but you also included a photograph of the roof structure which greatly assist in identification.
Due to the presence of steel lattice roof trusses, I can say that it would appear that your valuer was correct in identifying the property as Trusteel ( MKII I believe).
I’ll post a couple of images for you below which should help to confirm this.
