Hi guys. I’m new to this site but living it. What on earth is the black sticky strips that hang from the roof inside the loft and what are they for?. Also 2 houses in our street had new roofs put on this week. Both done in 2 days. The guys just ripped the metal boards off like you’d rip a plaster off a child. Is there asbestos in those and is that safe the way they did it. They charged 2800. Is that good?. thanks.

Hi Susan,
glad to have you with us and warmest of welcomes!

I’m not 100% sure what you’re referring to hanging down from inside the loft. Is it possible for you to take a photograph or two so that we may be able to assist you further?

As for the roofing, you did describe the roofing sheets as being metal. In some areas BISF Houses were built using corrugated metal roofing sheets as opposed to asbestos roofing panels. If they are indeed metal, then no they wouldn’t contain any asbestos.

Did you get a good look at the roofing panels after they were removed and if so are you certain that they were metal?

If can can provide a name for one of the nearby streets I can take a look on Google Street view and let you know what I think.
