I already have some loft insulation, but want to add another 150 mm.The present insulation is laid between the steel trusses should I lay the next layer at 90deg to the original and covering the trusses or on top leaving the trusses exposed.

Hi Mick
You can lay the new insulation diagonal if you wish, just remember that if your walking inside an un-boarded loft, it will be harder for you to see the trusses if you need to stand on them.

I installed mine straight on top of the existing insulation going in the direction from front to back of the house and had no problems at all.
