Hello everyone We see lots of posts about people asking about mortgages for BISF houses. Usually the person asking has tried 2 or 3 different mortgage companies first, paid for and expensive home survey etc, only to be told when it’s too late ” Sorry we don’t lend on non traditional properties”,

We need to work together to try and stop this!

It would be a great help to other users if every member here could just state who their current mortgage provider is so that we can build up an image of who to use and who to avoid.

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Halifax with no problems at all, but didn’t try anywhere else (Didn’t need to). They were fine, but I agree with the Admin’s comments – the surveyor has to know about BISF houses

Santander offset mortgage for us – no problems whatsoever.

Coventry turned us down first – so avoid them.

I got mine originally from Halifax, we have just switched to Nationwide who accepted BISF no problem.

I would not touch Santander if you paid me, for example did you know that with ANY product from them if you miss a payment at all, even a few pence overdrawn on an account they put a mark on your credit file INSTANTLY effecting your credit worthiness and this stays on for 6 years after the date you close the account!! And they will do this on EVERY occasion.

ALSO, when I phoned them for mortgage quote they put a search on my credit file BEFORE they do their own internal checks, which means they mark your credit file (and if hunting for mortgage the last thing you want is multiple searches on your file as this alone could cause rejection) only to decide themselves (even if you pass the credit search) that you don’t meet their own rules!! No company should touch your credit file until absolutely necessary.

A company with a disgusting attitude.

Regards,
Richard
